Executive Operations is seeking a versatile and experienced Systems Administrator to join our remote technical operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting diverse operating system environments including Windows, Linux, and macOS. You'll ensure system reliability, performance, and security across our multi-platform infrastructure while providing technical support to end-users and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust IT solutions.
This is a remote, full-time contract opportunity with potential for long-term engagement based on performance.
Key Responsibilities
System Management & Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain servers and workstations across Windows Server, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat), and macOS environments.
Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades across all operating systems to ensure security and stability.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization across multi-OS environments.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls using Active Directory, LDAP, and native OS tools.
Configure and maintain system backups, disaster recovery procedures, and business continuity plans.
Infrastructure & Network Support:
Deploy and manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) across different operating systems.
Configure and troubleshoot network services including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall rules.
Maintain file servers, print servers, and shared resources across heterogeneous environments.
Implement and manage cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with multi-OS workloads.
Security & Compliance:
Implement security best practices and hardening procedures for Windows, Linux, and macOS systems.
Monitor security logs, conduct vulnerability assessments, and respond to security incidents.
Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry standards.
Manage endpoint protection, antivirus solutions, and security tools across all platforms.
Technical Support & Documentation:
Provide tier 2/3 technical support for OS-related issues across all platforms.
Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues for end-users.
Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex technical problems.
Automation & Scripting:
Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages.
Automate routine tasks, system deployments, and configuration management across platforms.
Implement configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) for multi-OS environments.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
3–5 years of hands-on experience as a Systems Administrator managing multiple operating systems.
Proven experience supporting Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
Strong proficiency with Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, or similar).
Working knowledge of macOS administration and support.
Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, switching).
Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, or VirtualBox).
Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management systems.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and hybrid environments.
Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery procedures.
Understanding of security principles, patch management, and compliance requirements.
Professional certifications such as:
- Microsoft: MCSA, MCSE, or Microsoft 365 Certified
- Linux: RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, or CompTIA Linux+
- Apple: Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP)
- CompTIA: A+, Network+, Security+p
- Cloud: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator
Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt).
Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, PRTG).
Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk).

Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced remote environment.
